This is a hands-on individual contributor role. The person in this position will serve as a key point person for ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 documentation, internal audit coordination, corrective action tracking, PPAP/certification processing, and customer quality documentation.
This is not a corporate quality department role with direct reports. It is a practical, small-business quality systems role for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable with documentation, and able to follow up until tasks are complete.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 records, logs, forms, procedures, and supporting documentation
- Help coordinate internal audits, audit schedules, evidence gathering, and follow-up items
- Support external ISO and compliance audit preparation
- Track corrective actions, audit findings, nonconformance records, and assigned follow-up tasks
- Process customer documentation requests, including PPAP packets, material certifications, certificates of origin, compliance forms, and customer surveys
- Gather required documentation from vendors, manufacturers, internal records, and customer files
- Maintain organized digital and physical quality records
- Assist with training records, controlled documents, quality metrics, and management updates
- Communicate with customers, vendors, auditors, and internal team members as needed
- Support sales, operations, and administrative teams with quality-related documentation and follow-up
Qualifications
Required
- Strong organization and attention to detail
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working with email, spreadsheets, PDFs, scanned documents, and digital records
- Ability to manage multiple open tasks and follow up until completion
- Ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate records
- Dependable attendance and consistent task completion
- Willingness to learn company systems, ISO requirements, and customer documentation processes
Preferred
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, metals, industrial supply, automotive supply, or a related field
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, internal audits, corrective actions, or document control
- Experience with PPAP packets, material certifications, certificates of origin, customer portals, or supplier quality documentation
- Experience with ERP/order entry systems, customer/vendor portals, or document control systems
Work Environment
This is primarily an office-based role with regular interaction by phone, email, and in person. Occasional communication with shop, warehouse, branch, vendor, or customer personnel may be required.
Compensation
Compensation will depend on experience.
Expected range: $55,000–$68,000 per year
A stronger candidate with direct ISO/internal audit experience may be considered above the stated range.
